HOW IT WORKS

All programmes start with education and coaching, are defined by personalised nutrition and fitness plans, and are supported by motivation tips and recipes.

GETTING STARTED IS AS EASY AS 1-2-3

Body by Cathy Get Fit programmes start with education about proper nutrition and exercise, are boosted by personalised Get Fit programmes and are supported by behaviour and fitness coaching. All of which is monitored by the founder, Cathy Martin. She's an expert in the fields of nutrition, fitness and weight-loss—personally because she was once a UK size 24 and she is now a UK size 8 (where she's remained for 10 years); professionally because she has advanced diplomas in nutrition and weight-loss management. Cathy is also a registered nurse.

 

1. EVALUATION

Complete the online health and fitness profile, including any health conditions, current exercise, current diet, past or current injuries, lifestyle and the most exciting of all: goals. We will review your profile and meet with you in person or via web chat to discuss. Get started today.

2. PERSONALISED PLAN

Once we understand your current health profile and goals, then we work our magic creating a Get Fit programme just for you. Our programmes always start with education and measurable targets to ensure your success and keep you motivated. Jumpstart is an intensive 12-week programme that’s tailored specifically to your lifestyle and needs—it’s not pre-packaged, one-size-fits-all. Once you’ve completed the Jumpstart Programme, you will graduate to the next level, which costs £50/week. Learn more.

3. COACHING AND SUPPORT

Behaviour coaching is a major focus because you must understand the emotional triggers that make you overeat and the excuses you use to not exercise. Support comes from our favourite recipes, tips for boosting results, motivation and resources to help you learn more about your body and continue setting new goals.

EVALUATION

The consultation is critical. We prefer face-to-face, but we understand not everyone can travel to London, so we offer video conferences too. The consultation is your time to talk and our time to learn. If a group environment suits you better, we also offer workshops.

We'll review the health forms you completed and shared in advance of your consultation. We'll ask you what motivated you to look for a nutritionist, fitness and weight-loss expert. We'll ask you about your lifestyle. We'll ask you about your goals. Then we'll dig deeper and look at your emotional connection with food. Coaching is core to Body by Cathy—everything from emotional and behavioural, to fitness and strength training. 

At the end of your consultation, our goal is to understand your full story and create a programme to help you achieve your goals. 

BODY BY CATHY LOVES FOOD

LEARN TO LOVE FOOD

If you've found Body by Cathy because you want to lose weight, you might laugh at the idea of learning to love food. You're probably thinking that it's your love of food that made you gain weight. Wrong! It's eating out of boredom, eating to punish yourself, eating more than your body needs and yes, eating the wrong food.

Get the word ‘diet’ out of your head. Replace it with ‘mindful eating’ if you must, but it's best to think of it as healthy eating. That means eating nutritious foods that fuel your body, protect against disease, improve cognitive functions and make you feel amazing.

Eating is meant to be fun, not a chore filled with counting calories and measuring portions—we'll insist you do some of that in the beginning, but soon, you’ll reach the point where you understand what your body needs and you’ll adjust without conscious effort.

LEARN TO LOVE EXERCISE

With nutrition sorted and emotional triggers identified, we'll push you to start moving. Every step helps. It helps your mood, your appetite, your energy, your sleep and, of course, your body. Exercise is critical! The more muscle mass you build, the more fat you burn—it's just that simple.

For those new to exercise, don't worry, we'll coach you and provide easy-to-follow guides and videos. For those who are embarrassed or afraid to join a gym or run in the park, Cathy was once where you are now. She started by walking in front of her television.

LEARN TO LOVE YOUR BODY BY CATHY

As the weight starts melting away, muscles you didn't know you had start appearing and your energy is higher than most children, you will want to stare in the mirror, wear clothing you never thought you could and discover that little voice inside your head that used to criticise, is suddenly cheering. Congratulations! It's a tremendous feeling.

As you graduate each level of the Get Fit programme, we will give you new challenges and more motivation to continue reaching your goals and setting new ones.

You can expect to spend 12 weeks on the Jumpstart programme, 3-6 months on the Lose Weight programme, 6+ months on the Get Lean programme and your entire life on the Live Fit programme. Of course that timescale depends on your goals and lifestyle. Many people breeze through Jumpstart and progress naturally through Lose Weight and Get Lean. Again, it's entirely up to you.
